The Vision of Children Foundation’s “Fashion in Focus”
RAISES FUNDS TO FIND CURES FOR GENETIC VISION DISORDERS
August 29th, 2024 | Rancho Santa Fe, CA
About the Event
The Vision of Children Foundation hosted its first “Fashion in Focus” event on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Isola Boutique in Rancho Santa Fe. Event Co-Chairs Nancy Burney, Amy Myers, Kirstjen Nielsen, and Vivian Hardage, along with VOC’s outstanding Advisory Board, hosted this new event, with many attendees requesting it become an annual occurrence. The event welcomed a sold-out crowd of over 80 guests who enjoyed ‘sipping, shopping, and supporting’ at Isola Boutique with 15% of sales donated to the VOC.
The event featured a fashion show produced by Meghan Muir of Isola Boutique, and as Kristi Pieper, VOC Advisory Board member commented, “It was a beautiful Thursday evening in Rancho Santa Fe, a stunning new boutique, amazing friends to enjoy, delicious cuisine and beverage - the perfect combination - Vision of Children and life long friendships - can’t think of anything better; can you??”
Amy Myers shared her appreciation for the VOC Family Support Network in opening remarks as her nephew was able to connect directly with the Founders’ son who was the inspiration for The Vision of Children Foundation and faces similar challenges with his hereditary vision disorder. “The kindness in taking your time to meet and talk with Johnny and guide him through some tough times has made a lasting impact. We're incredibly grateful for the support and guidance you've provided.”
Proceeds from the "Fashion in Focus" event will advance VOC's groundbreaking research initiatives, bringing us closer to our mission of finding cures for genetic vision disorders and transforming lives by restoring vision loss.
About The Vision of Children Foundation
Rancho Santa Fe residents Sam and Vivian Hardage established Vision of Children in 1991 after their son, Chase, was born with Ocular Albinism. At the time, no researchers were studying this rare genetic vision disorder, for which no treatments or cures exist. The Hardages were determined to encourage scientific research to find a cure for this congenital condition. Today, as it celebrates over 30 years of research, Vision of Children is the foremost organization in the world supporting research for Ocular Albinism and related vision disorders with projects currently underway at The Shiley Eye Institute at UC San Diego Health.
