The Vision of Children Foundation’s “Madaluxe”
A DAY OF FRIENDSHIP, FASHION & PHILANTHROPY
December 3, 2018 | San Clemente, CA
About the Event
Tis the season for giving back and, thanks to the generosity of the MadaLuxe Vault in San Clemente, the Vision of Children received an early holiday gift. The MadaLuxe Vault, in San Clemente, and The Vision of Children Foundation, in Del Mar, joined together on December 3rd, to host a day of luxury shopping and giving back. A percentage of sales from the entire shopping day was donated to The Vision of Children Foundation. This event was a unique celebration of holiday shopping, giving back to a great cause, and being together with new, as well as long-time supporters of The Vision of Children Foundation.
A group of thirty women kicked-off the day with a champagne toast and limo bus ride, thoughtfully provided by MadaLuxe Vault, that started in Del Mar and ended at the San Clemente Outlet Mall. While getting to know one another on the drive, the women viewed videos about our Vision Heroes, Joel Gomez and Christian Guardino, two talented young teenage performers who have reached extraordinary goals despite their visual impairments. Upon arrival, the women were treated to a delicious lunch, also provided by MadaLuxe. Noor Elbard, of MadaLuxe and Maria Delgado, VOC Event Chair, gave a warm welcome speech and thanked everyone for attending. This was followed by a brief introduction from Vision of Children Co-Founder, Vivian Hardage, who shared the mission of the foundation; to cure genetic vision disorders in children and support families with visually impaired children. As the women mingled, excited to begin shopping, raffle tickets were sold for donations to the foundation; the prizes included a variety of special items, including a pair of Gucci Cat Eye Sunglasses donated by MadaLuxe Vault.
After lunch, the ladies were met with champagne and macarons as they took in the sleek and elegant design of the luxury store. Gucci, Saint Laurent, Celine, and Moschino were just a few of the designer brands available. The lavish store quickly turned into a high-fashion runway as women showed off the current designer pieces to one another and crossed off holiday gift lists.
As the day came to an end, the women, shopping bags in hand, made their way back to the limo bus to share their fashion-forward purchases and enjoy champagne on the ride back to Del Mar. The event was perfectly summed up as a day of “friendship, fashion, and philanthropy,” by one of the guests. MadaLuxe Vault provided a unique and enjoyable experience that was a benefit to the Vision of Children Foundation and a day to remember for their guests.
About the Vision of Children Foundation
Rancho Santa Fe residents Sam and Vivian Hardage established Vision of Children in 1991 after their son, Chase, was born with Ocular Albinism. At the time, no researchers were studying this rare genetic vision disorder, for which no treatments or cures exist. The Hardages were determined to encourage scientific research to find a cure for this congenital condition. Today, as it celebrates over 30 years of research, Vision of Children is the foremost organization in the world supporting research for Ocular Albinism and related vision disorders with projects currently underway at The Shiley Eye Institute at UC San Diego Health.
